The Jyväskylä Research Group on Civil Society (JYRES) is a research group founded at the Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy at the University of Jyväskylä in 2014. Its central focus is to advance the department’s research on civil society, social movements, activism and participation.
JYRES is based on the long and vibrant tradition of civil society research at the department. Its members include, in addition to three professors, senior researchers and doctoral students from various disciplines of the department. Marie Curie Fellow Erle Rikman’s work at the department is centrally linked to the research of JYRES. The research group has integral ties to the Master’s Degree Programme on Civil Society, which is the only master’s programme on civil society in Finland.
